Belfast is the place where the Titanic was built. They have a huge museum that tells all about the ship. Ship building used to be one of the main industries in Northern Ireland.
This is the museum above. Now, the main industries are tourism, IT, and tv and movie production. This is where the Game of Thrones is filmed. The Belfast area is the cheapest place in Europe to film so film production is coming there more and more. Here are some pictures of the city during a few sunny hours.
Lastly, they like their Irish stew, but they don’t like salt and pepper. We went to a pub that began in the early 1700’s and had a huge bowl. It looked delicious and it was once we added a little seasoning! They also have an orange drink that Timothy liked. I actually liked it too. It was like orange juice with a fizz.
So, finally on the Thursday after the Sunday break down the car part came. The garage fixed it in less than an hour and we were able to make the 7:30 pm ferry back to Scotland. After a 2.5 hour ride across water and a 3 hour ride across Scotland we were finally back home Friday morning about 1 am.
Home Sweet Home!
